Overview

New World Merrilands is a small, locally owned and operated supermarket in New Plymouth. We employ a team of 70 who pride themselves on delivering exceptional customer service. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a service deli assistant. This is a part time position, with the following set shifts : Monday, Friday and Saturday 10 : 30am - 6 : 30pm (22.5hrs a week). There is also plenty of opportunity to pick up extra shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, efficient service to our customers
Prepare, present, and maintain deli products to the highest standards
Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are always met
Safely handle stock, including lifting items of up to 12kg
Work as part of a supportive team in a fast-paced environment

What we\'re looking for

A positive, reliable, and motivated attitude

Strong customer service and communication skills

Ability to work well in a team environment

Flexibility to pick up additional shifts when required

Previous deli, hospitality, or food-handling experience is an advantage, but not essential – full training provided
