We are seeking an experienced and passionate lead ESOL teacher (New Zealand Teachers Council Registered Teacher) to oversee and develop our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programme from Y1–13 and contribute to literacy learning support across Y7-13 . The ideal candidate will have strong pedagogical knowledge, proven experience with EAPs (Y11–13) , and a commitment to supporting English language learners to thrive across all levels.

This dual-role position includes leadership of a small but dedicated team consisting of one teacher (0.2 FTTE) and a teacher aide (15 hours per week). You will manage the ESOL budget, guide effective teaching and assessment practice, and ensure that programmes align with ELLP Pathways , Know Your Learner , and ESOL funding processes . The successful candidate will also support students with diverse learning needs, working collaboratively with staff and whānau to promote inclusive education.

We are looking for someone who :

• Has a TESOL qualification or willing to undertake TESOL training
• Has a deep understanding of the ELLP Pathways and associated funding documentation
• Is experienced in teaching EAP at senior secondary level
• Brings familiarity with structured literacy and the science of learning
• Is a confident communicator and diligent leader with excellent attention to detail
• Can lead two staff PLD sessions per year to build capability across the school in ESOL principles and accurate completion of ELLPs
• Builds connections with the wider ESOL community, including attending secondary cluster meetings
• (Bonus) Has experience teaching both primary and secondary age groups.
