As a Senior Policy Advisor, you could play a pivotal role in scoping and planning projects, delivering evidence-based advice, managing investment programs, and engaging effectively with stakeholders across sectors.
You will also contribute to developing key policy frameworks, analysing complex subject matters, and ensuring effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Scoping and planning complex policy projects in areas where information is ambiguous or incomplete.
Providing clear, evidence-based advice to senior leaders and decision-makers.
Leading or supporting investment programmes / projects, including business case assessments and budget bids.
Coaching junior team members through mentoring, guidance, and on-the-job training.
Applying analytical frameworks to identify policy problems, assess options, and develop actionable recommendations.
Synthesising information from diverse sources to draw sound conclusions that inform decision-making.
Engaging effectively with stakeholders across sectors to build consensus and deliver practical solutions.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking candidates who bring strong expertise in the following areas :
Policy Development :
Proven experience in designing policies, conducting investment analysis, or performing economic evaluations (e.g., cost-benefit analysis or value-for-money frameworks).
Numerical Analysis :
A solid understanding of economic, fiscal, and statistical concepts with the ability to interpret data effectively.
Political Awareness :
Familiarity with policy development processes within central government settings and an understanding of political dynamics.
Analytical Thinking :
The ability to critically assess complex issues using evidence-based approaches.
Project Management :
Experience managing large-scale policy programmes or projects under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
Communication Skills :
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills tailored for senior decision-makers as well as other audiences.
Regulatory Knowledge :
Understanding of regulatory frameworks, legislative interpretation, and the machinery of government.
Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience as a policy advisor or working within central government environments.
