About the role

This position is based at the rural location of Tokanui, Southland.

The Rural Clinical Nurse Specialist – Key Responsibilities

  • Provide PRIME and unplanned urgent care.
  • Manage patients / consumer care within a defined area of speciality practice, working with patients, families / whanau and other health professionals to provide timely nursing care to optimise outcomes.
  • Work across the organisation within a clinical specialty acting as practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader / change agent and care coordinator / case manager.
  • Mentor and guide others in the speciality in assessment, clinical decision‑making, implementation, evaluation and documentation of care.
  • Effectively communicate with patients / consumers, families / whanau and members of the healthcare team.

Roster and Working Conditions

Rostered shift work that includes an eight‑hour day and 24 / 7 on‑call PRIME response Monday‑Friday. The role is based 64 hours per fortnight and accommodation is available.

About you

  • Registered Nurse with at least three years' experience.
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and holding a valid APC.
  • Post‑graduate qualifications; minimum diploma, preferably a master's degree.
  • Full New Zealand drivers licence with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate / advanced computer skills.
