The Rewards

  • Base $90K + Com + Car. OTE First Year $120K - $140K + uncapped

Our client is a NZ owned Private Training establishment, specialising in Driver Education, Operator Training and Workplace safety.

They are passionate about proving high-quality industry training solutions. From training in Dangerous Goods, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platforms, First Aid training, Health and Safety, Truck Classes 2, 4, 5, Chemical Safety, a whole range of Forklift training, Crane operating courses … I could keep going……. they have training courses to suit so many different industries.

Ensuring our workplaces are safe and compliant is incredibly important. Businesses have to ensure that their people are armed with the right training to keep their team and businesses safety operating. Something that is so fundamental to business success, if neglected can be very costly.

The Opportunity :

They are currently strengthening their Auckland based sales team and are looking to appoint an experienced Relationship focused Business Development Manager, who will be charged with the acquisition of new clients, as well as managing the growth from a portfolio of existing customers.

While initially this is a new business focused role, the great thing is when you bring a new client on board, you get to keep and manage the relationship going forward. You will be rewarded for  all sales activity  from your client portfolio, which means  you will earn commission on all their reoccurring and ongoing sales.

It is therefore important for us to attract someone who will not just nurture the client portfolio, but who will focus on growth, constantly looking at ways to improve revenue and increase "share of wallet' within these accounts.

The Role :

  • Be able to wear the hats of both a BDM and an Account Manager
  • Prospect and win new business opportunities and manage the ongoing customer relationship.
  • Manage and deliver on sales activities such as prospecting, introduction meetings, client qualification and presentations.
  • Manage your sales pipeline, with regular contact to nurture prospects into new customers.
  • Partner with customers to understand their business and their requirements.
  • Identify customer growth opportunities and pitch solutions to meet these.
  • Plan and manage time, to balance both new business and account management activities.
  • Be responsive to clients’ questions, issues with resolution-oriented contact.
  • Offer customised solutions to suit the specific needs of each customer.
  • Perform regular customer surveys, ensuring customers are getting the most effective and efficient solutions.
  • Forecast and plan around any specific client projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider sales and internal team members
  • This is a client facing role. You will be out talking to new and existing customers. No desk jockeys please!
  • About You :

  • Business Development is your background. You are confident in prospecting and new business activities.
  • 5+ years sales experience and looking for a long-term role.
  • Your engaging personality enables you to open doors of opportunity and build on business relationships.
  • You look forward to visiting your customers and likewise, they enjoy working with you.
  • Any previous experience working with those in HR or Health & Safety positions will be a bonus.
  • Confidence to prospect with customers from larger companies.
  • Your sales activity is proactive. You prefer to be out visiting customers than sitting behind a desk.
  • A consultative sales approach, offering the right solutions to meet customers’ specific needs.
  • Able to proactively plan and manage an effective sales strategy and pipeline.
  • We are open to industry  backgrounds, but those with sales experience in health and safety / compliance industries would have a head start.
  • The target industry is wide , but those with previous experience selling into transport, construction, infrastructure, warehousing and distribution, large manufacturing, government, etc.
  • Have strong commercial acumen. Ability to identify where you can bring value to a business.
  • You bring a track record of consistent achievement of sales targets.
  • Gaining industry knowledge is important to you so you can offer the right solutions to your customers.
  • You are Self-Motivated and Accountable. You don’t need your hand held, or to be managed.
  • Experience using a CRM. HubSpot experience is a bonus. Confident MS Office Suite
