Mō te tūnga | About the role :

The main purpose for the MP Support Coordinator position is to provide community engagement between the member of Parliament and her team within the Ikaroa‑Rāwhiti electorate. Listed below are the core responsibilities.

Based in Hawkes Bay for 30 hours per week, you will be working to support your member of Parliament, constituents / community and the machinery of Aotearoa New Zealand’s democracy.

Your previous experiences in providing administrative support and community engagement will be nothing short of excellent. You will be comfortable dealing with people and be close to the issues facing the community and be able to do this while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Often, you will be, the first point of contact, highly organised and love working within a collaborative team.

Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities :

  • Assist with community engagement and constituent services for a member of Parliament.
  • Monitor local forums, newsletters, community Facebook pages where required, and maintain established information databases relating to work and contacts made in the community.
  • Assist in providing information and advice to constituents on parliamentary processes and services
  • Maintain established databases and files relating to constituent issues
  • Raise common constituent issues and elevate complex cases where agreed with the team manager and / or Member

    The pay band for the role starts at $69,630 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events based fixed term’ agreements, with employment linked to the MP. This role is based in Hawkes Bay for 30 hours a week on a six‑month fixed term contract to provide maternity cover.
