Overview

Seeking a talented illustrator to bring a magical, rhyming bedtime story to life for young children. This project centers on creating a whimsical, cozy, and enchanting visual experience that captures the warmth of family and the wonder of nighttime. The story features pixies with gentle, sparkling features, expressive children, and loving parents in comforting bedtime scenes. The ideal candidate will have a flair for magical realism and fantasy, using colorful, warm, and nostalgic tones to evoke a sense of comfort and imagination. Illustrations should incorporate glowing lamps, starlit windows, golden lighting, and a consistent, inviting palette throughout the book. The project is for personal use, with a timeline of 4–6 weeks for the first draft and 1–2 weeks for revisions.

Deliverables

  • 10–12 double-page high-resolution digital illustrations (A4 landscape or square format)
  • Layered files in PSD or Procreate format
  • Space allocated for poetry text on each spread
  • Consistent visual style across all illustrations
  • Incorporation of magical elements such as glowing lamps, starlit windows, and golden lighting
  • Depiction of key characters : pixies, children, and parents in cozy bedtime settings

Requirements

  • Proven experience illustrating children’s books or similar projects, with a strong portfolio showcasing magical realism and fantasy styles
  • Proficiency in digital illustration tools (Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or equivalent)
  • Ability to create warm, colorful, and nostalgic visual themes
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in character and scene design
  • Excellent communication skills and responsiveness to feedback
  • Availability to meet the project timeline (4–6 weeks for first draft, 1–2 weeks for revisions)
  • Experience working with layered files and preparing artwork for print or digital publication
  • Open to feedback and collaborative iteration
