The role
Reporting to the Design Team Leader, you will own end-to-end engineering on brownfield projects : you will scope, model, specify, support install / commissioning, and then validate performance. Day to day, you will deliver efficient solutions across hydro assets (from small component redesigns to large plant and machinery) spanning R&D, design, manufacture, installation and final commissioning.
What You Will Do
3D modelling & design (SolidWorks) plus FEA (SolidWorks Simulation) to de-risk decisions.Scope and plan work; manage cost, schedule, and risk in live plant environments.Write specs, run vendor evaluations, and support procurement of major components.Partner with site teams to turn designs into reality; measure efficiency / availability improvements.Use point-cloud → CAD workflows; communicate trade-offs, options, and ROI; drive continuous improvement.About You
6+ years in mechanical design / analysis (hydro or process-plant ideal).Mechanical Engineering degree (CPEng desirable). You review calculations and drawings to a high standard. You’re confident with turbine / generator auxiliaries, water-conveyance systems, pressure equipment, and civil-mechanical interfaces. You manage vendors and stakeholders well, own outcomes, and quantify benefits. You work autonomously and collaboratively in a client-facing, project-paced environment. You can travel occasionally to sites across NZ and Australia.Interested?
