Jones Group 2021 Ltd is a family business dedicated to the quarrying, landscape, civil and bulk haulage industries in Taranaki. Due to staff member retiring, upcoming work and the continued growth of the business we are currently seeking an experienced digger / machine operator to join our team throughout our earthworks sites and quarries in the Taranaki Region.

Position Available x 2 :

1 x Experienced digger / finisher operator for our earthworks team - but also happy to help in quarry when needed
1 x Experienced quarry operator to help run our large mobile crushers and screens in our processing area - someone who wants responsibility, can run a crew and can think about the bigger picture

Responsibilities

Operate heavy earthmoving equipment with a focus on d igger operation and finishing work

Support civil sites, farm drainage, quarry development and extraction projects

Bulk out and finish sites to a high standard

Lead and / or assist a crew; work efficiently and safely

Operate multiple machines and adhere to civil and construction industry practices and standards (laser use / levels, compaction, products, roading, drainage, etc.)

Ensure effective verbal and written communication

Train upcoming operators as needed

Maintain health and safety focus on all tasks

Be flexible to work longer hours when required to complete the job

Qualifications & Attributes

Experienced Digger Operator Finisher

Experience across civil sites, farm work, drainage, quarry development and extraction

Ability to bulk out and finish to a high standard

Leadership skills and the ability to think about the bigger picture

Operational capability with multiple machines

Familiar with civil and construction industry practices and standards

Good verbal and written communication

Willingness to train others; strong time management and ability to work independently

Health and Safety focused

Full driver’s license essential; WTR endorsement and class 2-4 an advantage

Reliable, honest, flexible and a good team player

Not afraid to work longer hours when needed
