About the role
The Intellectual Disability Service (IDS) is part of the Specialist Mental Health Services based at Wakari Hospital, high above Dunedin.
This role will :
collaborate with the multidisciplinary team comprising of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Mental Health Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists
develop your clinical skills on a shift-by-shift basis
work alongside patients in a complex environment to meet their identified needs in a multi-disciplinary setting
emphasise the delivery of safe client focused care in an ever-changing dynamic setting
encompass acute care of patients recently admitted as well as the continuing care and rehabilitation of patients with complex needs
collaborate closely with the Charge Nurse Manager, Associate Charge Nurse and the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

About you
To be successful in this role, you must :
have a New Zealand Nursing Council registration and have a current APC
hold a scope of practice that allows you to work in Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities (more information can be found at here )
have current eligibility (citizenship, residency or work visa) to live and work in New Zealand
be positive with exceptional communication skills
have a passion for supporting people from admission to discharge
