About the Role
The Senior Advisor, Digital Communications provides strategic and operational leadership across Health New Zealand's digital channels and online platforms. The role combines advanced content design expertise with digital strategy and platform management, ensuring that our digital communications are user-centred, accessible, and aligned with organisational objectives.
This position contributes to the design, delivery, and governance of high-quality digital content and services that support people to understand and engage with Health New Zealand. The Senior Advisor also provides mentorship and subject matter leadership across the team, helping to embed consistent standards, innovative practices, and a culture of continuous improvement.
About you
You're an experienced digital communications professional with at least five years working across digital content, design, or platform strategy in a large or complex organisation. You bring a strategic mindset and the ability to see the bigger picture, balancing innovation with practical delivery.
You're skilled at leading and influencing across diverse teams, working collaboratively to develop and implement digital strategies, frameworks, and governance models that lift quality and consistency. You understand accessibility, usability, and human-centred design principles, and you know how to translate these into engaging, user-focused experiences.
You take pride in mentoring and coaching others, helping them grow their capability and confidence. Your communication style is clear, engaging, and influential – you build trust easily and have a natural ability to bring people along with you.
