Overview

ACC is New Zealand's accident insurance scheme, which helps prevent injuries and gets New Zealanders back to everyday life if they have an accident. ACC's Investments Group actively manages a $50+ billion multi-asset class investment portfolio that is designed to offset the future cost of accidents that have already occurred. The majority of assets in the portfolio are managed by a team in New Zealand and are invested across listed and unlisted assets both here and across the globe.

We have an opportunity within ACC's highly regarded Investments Group for an experienced Senior Equity Analyst - Australian Equities. The role has responsibility for providing recommendations to the Portfolio Managers on the attractiveness (or not) of stocks, with the goal of assisting the portfolio to outperform its benchmark on a risk adjusted basis after costs. The Senior Equity Analyst - Australian Equities will work closely with other members of the Australian Equities team, sharing perspectives on value at both a stock and sector level. This is a Wellington based position. A competitive base salary is on offer for this role plus a potential incentive (linked to achievement of objectives) and a range of other employee benefits.

  • Provide recommendations to Portfolio Managers on stock attractiveness to support outperformance on a risk-adjusted basis after costs.
  • Collaborate with the Australian Equities team, sharing perspectives on value at stock and sector levels.
  • Contribute to the team’s investment process and decision-making within Australian equities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Senior Equities Analyst.
  • Australian equities experience (desirable).
  • Demonstrated track record of adding value through in-depth analysis and assessing a company’s prospects relative to its share price.
  • Advanced understanding of the trade-off between risk and return.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wider investment team, adding value through constructive discussion of views.
  • Advanced understanding of financial theory and market behaviour, including the role behavioural bias plays in investment decision making.
