Senior Environmental Planner

Lead and inspire! We need two Environmental Planners to drive resource planning future processing and team development.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

x2 roles available. As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will be required to :

• Project manage or prepare complex and potentially contentious resource consent applications.
• Provide information and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Occasionally prepare and present evidence at consent hearings and contribute to Environment Court processes including mediation and caucusing.
• Review work from peers, mentor staff and take the lead on team projects.
• Contribute to policy development and strategic direction.
• Build positive relationships throughout the Council, resource users, community groups and Iwi.
• Focused, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
• The two wider roles will each have a major focus on Consents processes and the other policy, submissions and interests of the Integrated Catchment Management directorate of the Council.
• Be a leader in resource management, with full proficiency in preparing resource consent applications and familiarity with regional and national planning documents.
• Have a strong customer focus and proven ability to achieve practical timely outcomes.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have proven success at building strong positive relationships and resolving issues.
• Work well in a team and enjoy sharing your knowledge to mentor and train staff.
• Be willing to step up and support the Team Leader with projects and leadership.
• Tertiary qualification in science, resource management, planning or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in resource management.
