Lead advisor, science, technology and maths - Wellington basedFull time, Fixed term, Start Date : 29 / 09 / 2025, End Date : 01 / 12 / 2026 (Secondment cover)The purpose of Te Poutahu is to lead the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai.The lead advisor, science, technology and maths is part of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Whariki team within Te Poutahu - Curriculum Centre.

This role provides pivotal expertise in applying evidence-based design principles, informed by the Science of Learning to support quality educational outcomes.Key requirements include : Conceptual thinker who can translate, guide and develop frameworks and standards to support our science, tech and maths curriculum designWork closely with the Principal and Senior Advisors to develop researched and evidence-based solutions providing innovative solutions to current practicesCollaborate closely with the curriculum design team to make recommendations and provide insight into the design strategy ensuring our resources are aligned to meet current and changing demandslead the development and research to manage change initiatives to support programme implementation and ensure quality outcomes for all learnersIdentification of skills gaps and training to ensure curriculum integration to ensure we are keeping up with technological and changing Akogna needsAbout you : Knowledge of and leadership experience in using evidence of designing knowledge rich curriculum and the science of learning that supports quality education outcomesStrong stakeholder relationship management, including across education and government sectors.Comprehensive knowledge of the following area; Research, Mathematics, Science and Technology curriculum, and associated challenges, risk and impactsA strong level of Industry knowledge which will allow for actionable insights advice and analysis.Ability to drive performance across multiple channels including the review implementation and assessment of policy and proceduresPossess excellent ministerial writing skills clear and professional written and verbal communicationPlease apply directly via the Ministry of Education website.
