Role OverviewOver the past five years our Income Generation Team has set up a best practice fundraising programme including a five year Income Generation strategy.
As our Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager, you will be stepping in to cover our lead fundraiser while she is on maternity leave.
You will be taking over key major donor and partner relationships as well as prospecting new donors when able.This role is responsible for deepening relationships with key donors including individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate partnerships.
You will be an experienced major gifts and partnerships manager who can cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of qualified donors and prospects.
You will have experience executing giving strategies (major gifts, bequests, and / or grants) as well as nurturing high-value relationships and partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.The Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager is responsible for delivering outcomes in the following areas : Stewarding and renewing of current major donors / partnersProspecting new major donors / partners when ableStakeholder & Database ManagementYou'll join a small, experienced team and work alongside the CEO, Board and subject matter leads to grow financial and in-kind support for the Trust's programmes with a primary focus on our Inspiring ExplorersTM programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a portfolio of qualified donors including qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding high-potential donors, supporters and partners.Customise our case for support for personalised major gift asks including the infrequent grant applications.Work with the Fundraising Advisor and Communications team to develop and present compelling reports to steward existing donors and partners.Provide strategic advice to the CEO, senior team and Board on revenue growth, donor trends and philanthropic opportunities.Manage relationship pipelines through our database (Keela) and Monday.com to ensure excellent donor experience and stewardship practices.Support the Fundraising Advisor in specific strategies for your segment of donors for fundraising campaigns and appeals as needed.Track performance metrics including providing forecasting reports for the Income Generation Team and Board as required.Represent the Trust at external events, meetings and networking forums.Stay current on philanthropic trends, ethics, policy, tax incentives, and models in NewZealand and internationally.Person SpecificationEssential5+ years in nonprofits with at least 3+ years in a major gifts or partnership management fundraising role.Demonstrated ability to build relationships in the philanthropic, corporate and public sectors (regionally, nationally, or internationally) using best practice and ethical fundraising.Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to passionately share stories that will motivate people to feel appreciated or take action.Strong interpersonal skills, a natural connector with proven experience managing relationships.Strong project management and organizational skills.High level of personal and professional standards, self-motivated and strong work ethic.Commitment to the values and principles of the Antarctic Heritage Trust and the desire to see it succeed.DesirableExperience in other fundraising streams such as gifts in-kind, legacy / bequests giving and / or grant writing.Understanding of NewZealand philanthropic landscape, tax & legal frameworks, and trends in legacy giving.Experience in heritage conservation, museums, arts, or youth development sectors.What We OfferThe opportunity to be part of a unique cause with a connection to Antarctica.Be part of a passionate and high performing small team driven by great purpose.Commitment to professional development.Travel opportunities to meet with donors (within NZ, possibly international).
