Cybersecurity Engineer

The purpose of this group is to enable Hamilton City Council to become a leading, community-focused council by helping teams prioritise important work, ensuring they have the right systems, processes, and tools, and improving the way they work.ResponsibilitiesSupport the cyber roadmap with a mix of operational, tactical and strategic activities.Help deliver initiatives, manage cybersecurity incidents and risk management.Influence cyber strategy; be responsible for systems administration and implementing cybersecurity standards.Collaborate across the Digital Services team including Cloud and Network, Application Platform teams, Service Desk and wider organisation.Be part of an established agile team focused on lifting the cybersecurity posture across multiple business units and underpinning infrastructure.Qualifications5+ years in cybersecurity or a related field.Hands-on experience with security tools; ability to perform security assessments and vulnerability analysis.Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices and tools; familiarity with security frameworks.Experience implementing and maintaining security controls and mitigating security risks.Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, ISO Auditor, or GIAC are preferred.Able to champion the Cyber and Risk Function within Digital Services and across the organisation.Ability to work in agile environments and handle multiple deadlines.SalaryCirca $110K dependent on skills and experience.BenefitsFlexible by choice with an award-winning flexible working policy.Opportunities for professional development.Two wellbeing days per year.Free health insurance through Unimed with hospital / surgery cover and discounted membership rates for family members.Free annual health checks and flu vaccination.Ability to purchase additional annual leave; eye testing / glasses cost reimbursement.Discounted purchases from local businesses including gym memberships, cafes, dentists, and more.How to applyView the position description.Click apply.Complete your application.
