What's the job?

InterGroup are New Zealand's Infrastructure and Industrial Services specialists, delivering services in waste management, industrial and coatings and infrastructure. You may not have heard of us, but we do a lot – and we've got aspirations to be number one in every area we deliver.

In this critical role, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping a safer workplace and driving continuous improvement across our operations. You’ll oversee HSEQT protocols while collaborating with local councils, managing regional environmental consents, and preparing key reports. You’ll work closely with our HSEQT team and operational units to align practices with our organizational goals, promote safe work behaviors, and lead innovative safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead HSEQT compliance and protocols across the region.
Engage with local councils to secure environmental consents and submit reports.
Foster a culture of safety, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards, including Dangerous Goods regulations.
Build trusted relationships, influencing safety practices at all levels.
Actively coach and support the team, making your presence felt on the field to drive improvement.

The technical stuff you'll need

HSEQ Management Expertise : Proven experience in HSEQ management, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment

Legislative Knowledge : A strong understanding of the New Zealand legislative environment, including HSWA, ACC, RMA, and relevant industry guidelines and standards.

Relevant Qualification : New Zealand Certificate in Workplace Health and Safety Practice - Level 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification).

Familiarity with ICAM investigation techniques : and auditing experience
