Based in a close-knit team of Social Work and Care Services Professionals, you will apply your expertise across a variety of business units from health, corporate services to social services and education. Our team strives to ensure our people are safe, and we adopt a kaimahi (employee) centred approach for all health and safety matters.

About the role

The Senior Social Worker is responsible for :

  • Ensuring all whānau that we work with are the centre of any intervention.
  • Taking a leadership role, working collaboratively with our partners to achieve better outcomes for mokopuna, tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau.
  • Advocating for best outcomes.
  • Establishing professional relationships with Oranga Tamariki, external agencies, and internal Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira staff.
  • Sharing your skills and experience to build capability and capacity for your team.
  • Contributing to coaching and mentoring your fellow colleagues.

About you

Your high-level experience and professional expertise in Social Work is essential, and you will be excited to engage and learn alongside Ngāti Toa. You will be well practiced with the Oranga Tamariki Act and experienced in working with whānau, hapū and iwi. You should have a high degree of energy and be able to lead by example, provide sound advice, be solutions-focused, and make independent decisions when required. You will contribute to senior management hui.
