The Space Systems business designs and builds satellites, payloads, and components to support NASA missions and other programs.About The RoleBased on-site at Rocket Lab's Auckland, NZ facility, the Mechatronics Engineer AI is responsible for developing impactful AI solutions, designing scalable prototypes, and integrating AI with mechanical and electrical systems.

You will join a collaborative team running rapid experiments to identify promising AI use cases, while developing robust, scalable infrastructure that supports the whole organization to leverage AI.What You'll Get To DoDesign and develop mechatronic systems integrated with AI algorithms and automation logicConduct rigorous testing of hardware-software integrations and iterate based on data insightsCollaborate with diverse cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deploy AI-enabled mechatronic systemsDesign and deploy machine learning models to enhance integrated mechatronic systemsBuild and maintain robust in-house AI infrastructure and data pipelines for seamless system integrationYou'll Bring These Qualifications And SkillsBachelors or Masters degree and 3+ years of experience in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience integrating AI and machine learning algorithms into hardware systemsFamiliarity with embedded systems and modern programming languages (e.g., Python, C / C++)Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiencesThese Qualifications Would Be Nice To HaveA creative problem-solver with a passion for leveraging data to drive high-impact decisionsProven experience spearheading interdisciplinary projects to drive rapid innovation and iterative testingRelevant certifications in AI, robotics, or aerospace engineering, and ongoing education to stay ahead of industry trendsExpertise in deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and real-time algorithm deploymentIf the above sounds like you apply now!
