Sub-specialist training in Sleep Medicine is desirable but notessential.
Theywill also join the existing respiratory on-call roster and provide ward cover 1week in 8, looking after patients admitted under the specialist respiratoryservice and providing consult services to general medicine, intensive care andother services as required.
Job-plans include approximately 30% non-clinicaltime for continuing medical education, quality improvement and servicedevelopment.For the right candidate with astrong research background, additional employment may be available by mutualagreement through the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, based atWellington Hospital.Additional sleep medicine related employment, may be available by mutual agreement through WellSleep, a NATA accredited sleep laboratory, run by the University of Otago Sleep Investigation Centre.
There is a range of home sleep apnoea testing and in-laboratory polysomnography including PAP titration, MSLT and MWT testing.
There is also availability for daytime NIV acclimatisation - s and community based PAP trials.
The department currently provides sub-specialist clinics in asthma,cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, non-invasive ventilation, pleural disease,pulmonary hypertension, and sleep medicine as well as multi-disciplinarymeetings covering interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and tuberculosis.
Dailyrapid-access clinics provide support for admission prevention and initialtreatment of rapidly deteriorating conditions.
We provide Endobronchial Ultrasound(EBUS) for the lower North Island region.
