Why Join Us?

At Health NZ, You'll Find

A dynamic, high-impact environment where your leadership will directly influence health outcomes.

Long-term programme security, with a significant pipeline of capital and maintenance investments in place across the Northern Region.

A progressive approach to professional development, supporting continuous growth and learning.

A competitive total remuneration package, including five weeks' annual leave, flexible working arrangements, and a strong commitment to work–life balance.

This opportunity offers a rare combination of scale, complexity, and societal impact.

The Opportunity | Senior Project Manager

Based at Whangarei Hospital, the role is responsible for establishing and leading major cross-functional, strategic business initiatives, encompassing end-to-end delivery of all aspects of the projects.

What You'll Bring

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic project professional who can operate with influence and integrity in a complex public sector environment.

You Will Bring

9 to 10 years in a senior project management role for major, complex project / programs with a value of $10m+; ideally in the healthcare sector or government sector construction projects.

Tertiary qualification in engineering, project engineering, project management, construction management or a related field.

Thorough understanding and currency in the various NZ building codes and compliance requirements.

Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects with cross-functional project teams and multiple internal / external stakeholder groups.

Experience working within large corporate environments.

Strong track record applying contemporary project management principles, including risk management and benefits realisation planning.

Experience in the application of formal complex project management and change management techniques and standards.

Excellent communication and presentation skills with a proven record developing positive and transparent stakeholder relationships.

At a personal level you will be delivery-focused and be able to multitask.

As well as having excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, you'll be self-motivated and be hands-on with a can-do attitude.

You will naturally be a team player and inquisitive problem solver with an analytical mindset and have the ability to effectively manage priorities in order to drive change.

Make a Lasting Impact

This is more than a project role—it is an opportunity to shape the future of healthcare infrastructure; your knowledge and execution will directly contribute to safer, more sustainable, and more equitable healthcare for generations to come.
