OverviewAOD Practitioner - Ringa Riwha at Auckland City Mission - Te Tapui Atawhai16 hours per week, 7am - 3 : 30pm Saturday and Sunday

About The Role

The AOD Professional is responsible for supporting organisational and service change management, including reviewing the current model of care; reviewing best practice and evidence-based service provision; redesigning and implementing changes to ensure the service is fit-for-purpose.

The role includes aspects of healing, transformation and trauma-informed care, and enabling integration across all services in the Mission.

Duties

Provide intake and withdrawal assessments for individual clients; prepare mental health and risk assessments as needed.

Maintain individual case notes and ensure they are entered into the system by the end of each shift.

Support clients referred from community alcohol and drug services and liaise with specialist nurses.

Support detox clients, many of whom have co-existing issues which can include aggressive behaviour and deep depression / suicidal thoughts.

Provide advocacy supporting clients to attend appointments (e.g., Court, Work and Income, applying for emergency housing).

Skills & Experience

Postgraduate qualifications and / or experience in management or team leadership; DAAPANZ Registered Practitioner.

Commitment to embodying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in organisational practice.

Empathy and understanding of trauma, mental health, addiction, poverty and homelessness.

Excellent team building, collaboration and partnering skills with aptitude for delivering results through formal and informal channels.

Full, clean driver's licence.

Skills, experience and knowledge may come from a range of experiences, including paid work, volunteer work, or roles within community organisations.
