Experienced Machinery Operator for an Arable Farm

Turley Farms Ltd require an experienced operator to join our team, based in South Canterbury.

We are a family owned and operated business seeking a full time, permanent employee to assist in every day operations of cropping & onion operation, including irrigation. We farm 1900ha and operate a modern range of machinery and equipment we undertake our own fertiliser spreading and crop spraying, along with our combine harvesting, onion harvesting & baling. All tasks are completed by our team.

We are looking for someone who ideally has the following qualities.

• Excellent sense of initiative.
• Prepared to take direction from our Manager.
• Ability to complete work to a high standard.
• Prepared to put in the work hours when the work needs done (during harvest, baling and sowing seasons).
• Can operate a wide range of agricultural machinery, may including Vaderstad drill, tractors (mainly Fendt, Case IH,) Case IH baler, bale wrapper along with others
• Honest & reliable.
• Someone who will treat machinery with respect and look after our equipment like it is their own.
• Can follow H&S protocols and be willing to speak up with any concerns.
• Heavy Traffic licenses (we will assist the right person to obtain these if required),
• Workshop experience in engineering and / or mechanic skills would be brilliant (but not necessarily essential).
• Prior experience in arable farming, agricultural contracting or heavy cartage would be ideal but we are prepared to consider all applicants if they can meet most of the above criteria.
• Must have a current clean driver’s licence.

Our farm is located approximately 15 minutes from Temuka, 15 minutes from Geraldine, 35 minutes from Timaru & 45 minutes from Ashburton

There are plenty of ways to fill in your downtime in our stunning part of the country, whether it be fishing, skiing, boating, tramping or hunting.

Accommodation on farm with a 4 bedroom home if required.

Schooling : Primary school (Winchester or Geraldine) and Temuka or Geraldine High Schools

Hourly rate will be negotiated based on experience
