Overview

Science teacher (chemistry or physics preference). Full time, Fixed term, Start Date : 26 / 01 / 2026, End Date : 11 / 12 / 2026 (Parental leave).

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher. Science. Hornby High School is based in the vibrant heart of Hornby, Christchurch. We are seeking an experienced, New Zealand registered enthusiastic teacher to join our strong, stable, and collegial Science Department.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality instruction in science with a preference for chemistry or physics.
Contribute to a future-focused curriculum and grow as a professional through collaboration with the Science Department.
Support student agency and learning through engaged, inclusive teaching practices.

Qualifications and requirements

New Zealand registered teacher.

Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding in NCEA assessment.

Digitally savvy with a willingness to integrate technology into learning.

Open to change and have a growth mindset.
