Teaching Fellow – Psychological Medicine
This part-time (0.3 FTE), permanent Teaching Fellow role supports the World of Difference programme at the University of Otago, Wellington.
You will help coordinate and deliver a unique, service-user-led education programme that promotes recovery, inclusion and respect for people with mental distress.
About the Programme
The World of Difference | He Ao Whakatoihara kore is an award-winning teaching and research programme run through the Department of Psychological Medicine.
It is fully led and delivered by people with lived experience of mental distress and focuses on ending discrimination, promoting recovery, and advancing human rights.
Responsibilities
Assist the Programme Lead with teaching and coordination tasks across a range of formats including short talks, workshops, assessed sessions and placements.
Deliver and support programme activities that promote recovery, inclusion and respect for people experiencing mental distress.
Engage with external collaborators such as healthcare providers, tertiary institutions and community partners.
Maintain accurate records, prioritise tasks and manage workload efficiently.
Support the programme's research agenda and co-production activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Proactive, initiative-driven and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and keep accurate records.
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, visual presentation tools and other relevant software.
Experience in tertiary teaching.
Open about your lived experience and respect for confidentiality.
Relevant knowledge of te reo Maori and willingness to learn.
Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to the Te Tiriti journey of the programme.
Benefits and Working Conditions
This part-time (0.3 FTE) permanent position is based in Wellington.
The salary range is $75,727 to $87,849 per annum (pro-rata).
You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
