Senior Firmware Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a passionate and experienced senior firmware engineer to join our client's team in Auckland. You'll work at the intersection of software, firmware, and hardware, helping to develop technology that is transforming a centuries-old industry. As a senior member of the platform team, you will take ownership of the firmware from inception through to mass deployment and maintenance. You will be responsible for delivering a highly reliable, fault-tolerant, and monitorable device, including ultra‑low‑power design, communication, production support, and in‑field upgrades.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and deliver new features and performance improvements to our client's product firmware.
• Drive improvements to quality and testing systems.
• Work closely with other engineering teams to quickly ship high-impact features.
• Support and mentor other engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and generous context sharing.
• Proactively monitor the performance of the device fleet and drive improvements to monitoring platforms.
