The department hosts internationally recognised experts and units such as the New Zealand Child and Youth Epidemiology Service, the New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit, and the National Mortality Review Data Group.The role / Te mahiWe are seeking a Teaching Fellow to join the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, based in Dunedin.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical skills education to medical students across paediatric settings, including hospital wards, outpatient clinics, and community health centres.
Teaching Fellows provide a key point of contact for academic queries from students, assisting with tutoring and pastoral care.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with staff from Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora and community providers such as Plunket and Tamariki Ora.Your skills and experience / Ka Pukeka Me Ka WheakoThe successful candidate will have excellent record keeping skills, written and verbal communication skills, and experience in using a range of software including Microsoft Office.
In addition, the candidate is expected to have : A healthcare professional qualification (nursing / medical qualification preferable)Aptitude for effective teaching at tertiary levelExcellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institutionAbility to work positively with children and parents of children with ongoing health needsAble to maintain a professional approach while under pressureExperience in child health is preferableFurther details / PurokoThis is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed-term position until November
