Overview

Jones Group 2021 Ltd is the market leader in Quarrying in the Taranaki Region. Due to the continued growth of the business we are looking for another experienced engineering all rounder to join our workshop team.

Have you ever watched the program Goldrush? Well, this is Taranaki’s version, but our gold is aggregate, sand and colored stone. Imagine a giant sandpit with real machinery and it being your job to help maintain and repair it!

We have over 100 different machines ranging from high pressure water pumps to trucks and trailers with diggers, loaders, dozers, crushers, dump trucks, generators, and everything to do with earthmoving in between.

This permanent full time position will involve breakdowns, general maintenance and repairs, screens, hammers and wear plate changes as well as improvements and upgrades of heavy machinery including crushers, screens, diggers, loaders, trucks and trailers etc.

What we offer is a permanent, full-time role, working alongside highly skilled mechanics and engineers with a fantastic opportunity to assist and learn about a great variety of mechanical and engineering processes involved with repair of heavy equipment. If we can’t find the part we need, we make it.

Responsibilities

Support breakdowns, general maintenance and repairs of heavy machinery including crushers, screens, diggers, loaders, trucks and trailers.
Assist with wear part changes such as screens, hammers and wear plates, and contribute to improvements and upgrades of machinery.
Work alongside a team of skilled mechanics and engineers in a workshop environment.
Contribute to the repair and maintenance of over 100 different machines and equipment within the quarry operation.

Ideal applicant / Qualifications

Trade qualification but not essential

Knowledge of heavy machinery

MIG and ARC welding to a high standard

Mechanical experience

Physically strong and fit

Good verbal and written communication

Motivated with strong time management and the ability to work independently

Health and safety focused

Full driver's license; WTR an advantage

Reliable, honest, flexible and a good team player with a can-do attitude
