About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Trainees or qualified Phlebotomists to join our Patient Services Department at our Wellington Lab. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering high-quality care and service to our patients. We are currently looking to fill three permanent, full-time positions, each offering 80 hours per fortnight. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive team environment while making a meaningful impact in your community.

Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to :

  • The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
  • Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills.
  • A sound knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory operations including safety, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable, but not essential.
  • A valid New Zealand full or restricted driver’s license
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
