  • Salary range between $140,000 - $185,000 depending on skills and experience.

  • Flexible location but Wellington or Christchurch locations preferred.

    Mo te turanga | About the role

    Lead DOC's National Property & Fleet Team that shapes the places and assets that enable conservation across Aotearoa.

    From remote field bases to bustling visitor centres and our national vehicle fleet, this role is at the heart of how DOC supports its people and mission.

    As National Property & Fleet Manager, you'll lead the strategic direction and day-to-day performance of DOC's nationwide property and fleet portfolios - ensuring the Department's assets are safe, efficient, sustainable, and future-focused.

    You'll work closely with leaders across DOC, external partners, and government agencies to develop and deliver long-term strategies that support our people to protect and restore Aotearoa's natural and cultural heritage.

    It's a unique opportunity to blend commercial acumen with purpose - enabling conservation to thrive through smart asset stewardship.

    The position will be focussed on :

    • Lead the development and delivery of DOC's Property and Fleet Strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and government initiatives.
    • Oversee the management of all owned and leased residential and commercial properties, as well as DOC's nationwide fleet portfolio.
    • Ensure legal, regulatory, and health and safety compliance across all property and fleet activities.
    • Provide expert property and fleet management advice to DOC groups and leaders, supporting operational delivery at place.

      If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you :

    • Proven experience in strategic property and fleet management, ideally across large, complex or geographically diverse organisations.
    • Skilled in business planning, financial management, and investment decision-making to optimise asset performance.
    • Strong strategic and systems thinking, with the ability to align property and fleet portfolios to organisational and government priorities.
    • Experienced in policy, process and standards development to drive consistency and efficiency.
    • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships internally and externally.
    • Strong leadership and people development capability, fostering high performance and collaboration.
    • Sound commercial acumen with experience in contract management and supplier engagement.
    • Comprehensive understanding of health, safety and regulatory frameworks relevant to property and fleet operations.

      The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $185,000 with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.
