What you’ll be doing

You’ll sit at the heart of how MATTR operates, designing and evolving systems, platforms, and processes that help every team do their best work. Every day will bring something different, but you can expect to :

  • Lead and mentor a small but mighty IT operations team, creating a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, manage, and evolve MATTR’s enterprise cloud infrastructure to scale securely and efficiently, always with reliability and optimisation in mind.
  • Champion automation and smarter ways of working across our Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Atlassian, JAMF MDM, macOS, and Wi‑Fi environments, following “infrastructure as code” principles wherever possible.
  • Partner with Security and Site Reliability to strengthen reliability, availability, and compliance across our systems and infrastructure.
  • Evolve and optimise our Service Desk, ensuring a seamless and empowering experience for both internal and external customers.
  • Be the lead for access, device, and identity controls embedding Zero Trust principles, DLP policies, and Defender for Endpoint protections.
  • Review, refine, and reimagine how we work – evolving our support processes and shaping the technical roadmap driving our systems and services for the future.

What you’ll bring

You’re someone who loves making systems sing! You get things done, keep things running, and never stop asking how they can run better.

  • 5+ years’ experience deploying, configuring, and supporting cloud‑based distributed systems, with a strong grasp of security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Strong background in operational support and sound knowledge of ITIL operational application with 5‑7 years working in an operational environment.
  • Proven experience (3‑5 years) leading, mentoring and empowering technical teams to deliver operational excellence in dynamic environments.
  • Hands‑on expertise in cloud networking, platform management, and system architecture, with a sharp eye for optimisation.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Defender ideally within large‑scale E5 environments, and always with automation at the core.
  • Experience managing cloud‑based MDM solutions, ideally JAMF Pro, and experienced in implementing and maintaining Zero Trust architectures.
  • A strong security‑first mindset, ensuring protection and resilience are baked into every operational and architectural decision.
  • Proven ability to run JIRA products (Jira Software, Jira Service Management) at enterprise scale.
  • A passion for automation where you notice manual work and immediately think, “How can we make this smarter?”
