THE OPPORTUNITY

We have a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Veterinarian to join our Christchurch Centre.

Permanent - Part-Time 16 hours per week

Monday and Tuesday - 8 hours per day normally worked between 8 : 45am and 5 : 15pm plus 11 hours every 5th weekend.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care alongside a veterinary nurse for animals in SPCA's care.

Work independently, with support from our Head Vet when needed.

Perform routine and non-routine surgeries, including desexing procedures.

Handle a variety of animals (domestic, un-socialised, and wildlife).

Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while prioritising both animal welfare.

Align with SPCA's values, demonstrating empathy in all interactions.

Build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and suppliers.

WHAT YOU BRING

You thrive in a busy, dynamic environment, handling a diverse caseload in a well-equipped clinic with everything you need.

With resilience, empathy, and excellent communication skills, you'll navigate the physical demands of the role while handling emotional situations with ease.

Skills & Experience

A full veterinary qualification with current professional registration.

Solid experience in clinical practice.

Competence with computer systems; experience with Ezyvet is a plus.

Experience or understanding of shelter medicine (preferred but not essential).

Ideally, experience in high-volume spay / neuter programmes.
