$100k - $130k p.a. + 10K Relocation AssistanceAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Resource Management Planning Lead to take a senior, strategic role with a progressive South Island council.

Join a team that values collaboration, community, and innovation, delivering real outcomes in land use, development, and environmental planning.The RoleYou'll oversee land use and subdivision consents, notices of requirement, and outline plans under the RMA, providing high-level technical expertise and leadership to ensure efficient, compliant decision-making.

You'll mentor and guide planning officers, support professional development, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

You'll also contribute to district plan reviews, policy development, and submissions on regional and national planning matters.Manage and approve complex resource consents, ensuring legal and policy alignmentProvide expert planning advice to elected members, staff, and stakeholdersRepresent Council at hearings and Environment Court with evidence-based positionsContribute to district plan reviews, long-term strategy, and process improvementsAbout YouYou're a confident planner with strong technical knowledge and experience in resource management, either in local government or consultancy.

You lead with sound judgment, political awareness, and a pragmatic approach.Tertiary qualification in Planning, Resource Management, or related discipline (NZPI eligible)Minimum 5 years' planning or policy experience, ideally with consent management exposureStrong RMA and local government knowledge, with hearings or court experienceSkilled communicator, capable of influencing teams and communitiesWhy This RoleJoin an organisation where your leadership shapes how communities grow and the environment is managed.
