Your day-to-day activities will involve maintaining digital platforms such as the website and social media channels, crafting engaging stories that highlight the impact of sustainable building practices, and leading the development of case studies in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders.You will be responsible for producing high-quality written materials—including articles, press releases, media kits—and distributing them through appropriate channels to maximise visibility.In addition to advising senior leaders on effective communication approaches, you will monitor industry trends using advanced reporting tools to keep your team informed.Your ability to ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints will be crucial in promoting the organisation's mission.

By nurturing strong relationships with media contacts and providing expert editorial advice internally, you will help shape public perception while supporting advocacy efforts that drive real change throughout Aotearoa.Maintain and update the organisation's website to ensure content remains current, accurate, engaging, user-friendly, and aligned with brand guidelines while analysing performance metrics for ongoing improvement.Support the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns including email newsletters, online advertising initiatives, and search engine optimisation strategies to maximise audience engagement.Lead the creation of compelling case study content by collaborating with external contractors, managing relationships with clients and suppliers, overseeing approvals, and ensuring timely publication.Act as the first point of contact for media inquiries by managing relationships with journalists and media outlets while supporting strategic media communications efforts.Write articles, news releases, media kits, and other content as required; manage distribution channels to ensure materials reach key audiences effectively.Advise leadership and colleagues on best practice communications strategies while providing support on public relations matters and communication-related issues.Monitor media coverage and industry trends using tools such as Meltwater; provide regular reports and insightful analysis to inform team decision-making.Promote consistent use of language, imagery, and graphics across all print, online, and multimedia materials to strengthen brand identity.Offer editorial guidance to staff members ensuring all communications are high quality and align with organisational strategies.Manage social media accounts by creating engaging content schedules that align with broader communication goals; monitor engagement metrics and adjust tactics as needed.What you bringTo excel as a Strategic Communications Advisor in this influential not-for-profit setting, you will bring proven experience from previous roles where you have successfully managed multi-channel communications campaigns.Your background should include hands-on involvement in digital marketing initiatives as well as demonstrated skill in producing high-quality written materials for various audiences.A degree in communications, journalism or a related field coupled with at least two years' experience in a similar position within a complex or purpose-driven environment.Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms and digital channels along with proven experience leveraging these tools for storytelling that inspires change.Exceptional writing skills with proficiency in creating clear, persuasive content tailored for diverse audiences across multiple formats including web copy, articles, news releases, and case studies.Experience using office software such as MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint as well as familiarity with digital content management systems like MS Dynamics.Knowledge of InDesign plus video or photo editing capabilities would be advantageous for producing engaging visual content; understanding Google Analytics is also beneficial.Strategic thinking abilities combined with strong engagement skills enabling you to build networks both internally among colleagues and externally with partners or stakeholders.Excellent time management skills allowing you to juggle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.Outstanding presentation skills paired with interpersonal strengths that foster collaborative teamwork within cross-functional groups.A genuine interest in sustainability issues along with commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in everyday work activities.Dedication to understanding Te Ao Maori perspectives while supporting guardianship of Aotearoa's natural environment through your professional contributions.What sets this company apartThis not-for-profit organisation stands out as a leader in advocating for healthier homes and buildings throughout New Zealand by championing sustainable practices across both public and private sectors.
