Dairy Farm Assistant

We are looking for 2 Dairy farm assistants to join our team The role offers excellent learning opportunities outside of conventional dairy farming as well as offering career development for the right applicant. The farm is located in Mangakino.

The role will suit someone that has an interest in dairy operations and animal husbandry. While previous farm experience is preferred, it isn’t essential. The right candidate must have the desire and willingness to learn, have a high standard of work ethic and be able to work well on their own with the wider team.

The key tasks include :

• Ability to run the milking shed, set the shed for milking, retrieve cows and milk the herd, assist with wash down of yard and plant. Ensure milking and washdown are completed efficiently.
• Assisting in the milking process, ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene practices are followed.
• Animal health – Helping identify cows with mastitis and lameness. With the guidance of the Farm Manager help with treatments on animals.
• General farm duties – Assist with day-to-day farm operation duties, setting break fences, spraying weeds, general repairs and maintenance.
• Future professional growth – The company offers staff the opportunity to learn outside of their core role. This offers staff to develop their skill set for future employment and or internal promotion within their business.

To work in this role, you must have the right to work in New Zealand. Minimum 30 hours per week.
