We’re looking for a commercially savvy Senior Procurement Specialist to join our Advisory Services team within New Zealand Government Procurement (NZGP). This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of government, supporting agencies with significant procurement initiatives and contributing to collaborative contracts that deliver real public value.

As a Senior Procurement Specialist, you’ll provide expert advice and support to government agencies on major procurement projects, syndicated initiatives, and strategic sourcing. You’ll help shape commercial strategies, lead RFx processes, and influence early planning to improve procurement outcomes across the public sector.

You’ll also work closely with other functional lead organisations and contribute to building procurement capability across the system. This role offers a unique blend of strategic influence, hands‑on delivery, and cross‑agency collaboration.

  • Appropriate experience in procurement and associated functions – preferably 5‑8 years in a senior‑intermediate level procurement role.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement rules and processes.
  • Proven success delivering significant procurement projects to scope, time, and budget.
  • Experience developing commercial strategies and leading RFx processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to identify risks and opportunities in complex environments.
  • MCIPS or relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zeland.
