The opportunity - Te aheinga

The Project Management Office (PMO) plays a key role in delivering a wide range of capital projects that support the growth and sustainability of our district.

Within this, the Three Waters Process team leads critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that directly impact the health and wellbeing of our community.

We're now looking for an experienced project management professional to step into the Project Manager Lead role, with a focus on process plant and larger pump station projects.

This role reports to the Project Delivery Manager and leads a team of four to six people, delivering approximately $10M of works annually.

Create a positive, high-performing team environment that encourages collaboration, learning, and inclusion

Ensure high quality project planning, delivery and handover into asset ownership

Support your team in monitoring contractor and consultant performance

Plan and manage team resources to deliver projects effectively

Oversee and prioritise team activities, track performance, and support improvements

Work with Commercial Services to manage budgets, procurement, contracts, and costs

Work closely with asset owners on priorities and future pipeline of projects

Undertake project management of select projects

Relevant tertiary qualifications and project management certifications

Experience in water and / or wastewater treatment environments

Experience working with Kaupapa Maori, competency in Tikanga, and a dedication to applying a Te Ao Maori lens

Experience in local government or public sector environments, with knowledge of relevant legislation

You can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with a salary of between $145,000 - $155,000, with five weeks annual leave, 15 days sick leave and flexible working arrangements.
