Key Responsibilities :
Prepare, season, and cook a variety of dishes including fresh fish, chips, burgers, fritters, and other menu items following the shop's recipes and quality standards
Prepare ingredients, batters, sauces, and marinades from scratch, ensuring consistency and flavour
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, grills, and ovens safely and efficiently
Monitor food quality, taste, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure customer satisfaction
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and workplace cleanliness in accordance with NZ food safety regulations
Manage cooking times and coordinate food preparation during busy service periods
Assist in menu improvement, portion control, and stock management
Train and support junior kitchen assistants when require
Skills and Experience Required :
Minimum 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen
Sound knowledge of cooking methods, ingredient preparation, and food safety procedures
Ability to work independently and handle multiple orders in a fast-paced environment
Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work rostered shifts including weekends and evenings
Positive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to consistent quality
