The Position
The department of Anaesthesia is expanding which means there are exciting new opportunities for Anaesthetists to join the team! The theatre complex consists of seven operating theatres, but current expansion will make that nine theatres plus use of a theatre at their private hospital. The team currently comprises of 26 specialist anaesthetists, 8 registrars and 6 senior house officers. They currently operate 2 separate on-call rosters for anaesthesia and intensive care. The team covers almost all sub-specialties (except neurosurgery and cardiac surgery) which will allow successful applicants to participate in the full spectrum of anaesthesia services provided by the department.
The Location
The region includes the charming towns of Feilding, Kimbolton, Āpiti, Himatangi Beach, Linton and Ashhurst to name a few, and at the centre of it all is the city of Palmerston North, the lively, multi-cultural heart of Manawatū. It's a family-friendly place that's easy to live and work, with easy access to an array of outdoor activities – beaches, ski fields, lakes, mountains, as well as fantastic mountain biking and hiking tracks. No traffic and an easy commute to work, really help a with true work-life balance. Our fantastic central location means exploring other parts of New Zealand is easy as a drive or a short flight. We are well served with excellent schooling options, as well as two tertiary institutes – Massey University and the International Pacific College.
Essential Criteria
Consultants with experience in comparable health systems will be considered. Doctors will need to obtain specialist registration in New Zealand via either the VOC3 Provisional Vocational (specialist) registration pathway or via The Locum Tenens registration pathway.
