The Department of Critical Care Medicine admits approximately

  • patients per year.

Our case mix includes all adult tertiary specialties apart from cardiology and cardiothoracic (provided by another ICU in Auckland City Hospital), burns and plastic surgery (provided elsewhere in Auckland).

There is particular emphasis on neuro-intensive care, tertiary surgical services and abdominal organ transplantation.The Critical Care Fellow is a 12-month fixed term position starting July

  • and is suitable for those nearing the completion of their specialist training in intensive care.
  • The Fellow works on the specialist roster under supervision and there are opportunities for academic study and / or clinical research.The atmosphere at the Te Toka Tumai is stimulating with a strong academic focus and an organisation-wide commitment to quality and process improvement.

    The physical environment is modern and spacious, and the equipment and information technology is up to date.You should be either registered or be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Please note, you will be required to provide source verification of your qualifications for your registration application.
