Tēnei tūranga - About the Role

MBIE is one of NZ’s largest and most diverse public sector agencies. You’ll be part of a team that appears before licensing boards, tribunals, and courts – gaining exposure to real legal work that makes a difference.

As a Legal Executive, you’ll work alongside experienced lawyers in either our Auckland or Wellington office, supporting a wide range of legal work across MBIE’s enforcement activities. You’ll help manage litigation files, draft correspondence and court documents, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Helping manage litigation files and supporting solicitors with case preparation
  • Drafting letters and assisting with court documents
  • Coordinating admin tasks such as liaising with IT and scheduling meetings
  • Being a go-to team member for keeping things organised and on track

  • Super‑organised and able to juggle multiple tasks
  • A great communicator – both written and verbal
  • A team player with strong relationship skills
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and ready to learn
  • You will also need to have a full NZ driver’s licence and be legally able to work in NZ.
