Role and Responsibilities

This Senior Engineer is a core member of an agile team delivering software updates and technical changes to our product. You will solve technical and delivery challenges and support your team and the technical leadership with planning, scoping, software design and product work. You will be part of the Payments Growth team, validating solutions and delivering value to customers quickly. You will promote software standards and contribute to improving them where appropriate. You will identify maintenance and technical debt and ensure these are addressed in the backlog when relevant. Primarily, you will work as part of an agile team to deliver changes as prioritised by the product owner based on broader product, engineering or design needs.

What You’ll Bring

• 6+ years experience in software engineering or equivalent role with experience in building SaaS software
• You will be an agile advocate and value small iterations, reduce WIP, learn from experiments and apply DevOps principles
• You will be experienced with and advocate for delivery techniques that reduce risk such as feature flagging and partial deploys
• Strong competency and experience with Mobile, .NET, JavaScript or API Design
• Experience working with IaaS platforms e.g. Azure / AWS
• Team player and able to collaborate with others
• Demonstrated strong collaboration across product and engineering
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and manage stakeholder expectations
• Advocate for collaborative programming techniques
• Proven track record in coaching and mentoring junior engineers
• Empathetic and able to provide constructive feedback
• Natural curiosity and problem solving

This role is full time, permanent and can be based anywhere in New Zealand.
