OverviewRadiation OncologyREGIONAL CANCER TREATMENT SERVICETaranaki Base Hospital, New ZealandOur Radiation Oncology department is expanding from Palmerston North to New Plymouth and is looking for a Medical Physics lead for the new Taranaki Cancer Centre located in New Plymouth.
We are seeking highly motivated Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to manage Medical Physics at the remote site with one other physicist, in cooperation with the wider Medical Physics team based in Palmerston North.
The site has a single Truebeam linac for treatment delivery only.
Pre-treatment is performed at Palmerston North and uses a Siemens Confidence CT scanner and Raystation TPS.
The department utilises Elekta Mosaiq as our OIS.
Responsibilities
The successful applicants will primarily manage the Medical Physics Service in Taranaki but participate in a broad range of clinical physics activities, including quality assurance, calibration, commissioning of equipment, development of treatment techniques and training and education of other staff over the whole service.
Successful candidates may occasionally be required to travel to Palmerston North.
Essential selection criteria
An undergraduate degree in physics with a strong component in mathematics.
A post graduate qualification in medical physics.
Listed or demonstrated eligibility for listing on the ACPSEM register of qualified medical physics specialists in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics.
Be able to communicate fluently in English; both written and oral.
Priority selection criteria
ACPSEM certification (or an equivalent, recognized by the ACPSEM) in radiation Oncology Medical Physics.
Significant experience with Truebeam Linacs.
Several years of experience in a modern radiation oncology department.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment with a high degree of professionalism.
Excellent problem solving skills and self motivation.
Experience in development and commissioning of new equipment and treatment techniques.
Licensing
The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Use License for Radiation Oncology Medical Physics practices from the New Zealand Office of Radiation Safety.
