Established in 2016, ARC Vets is an independent NZ family-owned referral practice with two state-of-the-art small animal hospitals in Auckland, ARC Central Ltd in Freemans Bay, and ARC North Ltd in Albany.
We're a 24 / 7 operation with an incredible team of specialists in surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, oncology, dermatology, and critical care.
ARC North also offers hydrotherapy services.

Job Description

Competitive hourly rate
$30 - $35 gross per hour plus 20% night and weekend allowance.

Main responsibilities
No two days will ever be the same!
Here is a taste of what you will be involved in...
Assessment of the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking , and examination before referral to the appropriate vet .
Assessment can be via telephone or 1 : 1 consultation with patient .
Follow - up of patient test results and communication with clients where appropriate .
Administration of medications , including dose calculations, and charted instructions in a timely and accurate manner .
Provision of patient ' s basic needs ( food , water , exercise ), comfort and hygiene in accordance with practice standards .
Performing diagnostic imaging studies .
Assisting other clinical team members as required .
Maintaining high standards of infection control .
Assisting in surgery .
Preparation of notes, invoicing and liaising with clients and referring vets.
Hours of work
75 - 80 hours per fortnight
Our nurses work various shifts to fit around the clinic requirements and work life balance
Rosters are arranged up to 2 months in advance, so you have plenty of notice
Rosters include two full weekends a month.
Desired Skills and Experience
The successfulcandidate will :
Be a team player
Have at least 1 years experience post-qualification working as a full time veterinary nurse
Hold a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology degree (overseas equivalent preferable but negotiable) or equivalent experience.
Deliver an exceptionally high standard of patient care
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Be extremely reliable & willing to work shifts, including weekends & public holidays
