Anaesthetic Technician / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse Anaesthetic Assistant
We are looking for an Anaesthetic Technician / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or experienced Registered Nurse Anaesthetic Assistant to join our team at Mercy Hospital.
In this vital role, you will play an essential part of ensuring the safe and effective delivery of anaesthesia across a wide range of procedures.
In this position you will provide clinical and technical support to the Anaesthetist, contributing to the sage administration of anaesthesia and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Additionally, you will support the theatre team in maintaining a smooth and efficient operating environment.

Anaesthetic Technician / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
Provide professional, technical and clinical assistance to Anaesthetists.
Provide safe administration of anaesthesia to patients.
Anticipate problems and deliver exceptional patient care.
Co-ordinate documentation to ensure the patient receives effective care.
Participation in quality improvement processes and activities.
Registered Nurse Anaesthetic Assistant
Assist the Anaesthetic Technician team and undertake training to gain proficiency in anaesthetics.
Provide optimum patient care in accordance with Mercy Hospital Shared Purpose and values.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care that is responsive to patient needs and supported by evidence-based clinical practice.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining a partnership with patients, community, colleagues and employers.
This is a permanent, full-time (1 FTE) position, with hours to be worked on a Monday to Friday roster.
Skills and Experiences
Hold registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ) / Registration or Enrolment with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
Previous nursing experience in airway management gained through work in :
Emergency Departments
PACU
ICU or Anaesthetics
Demonstrate sound professional judgment and an ability to practice in a culturally safe manner.
Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you and the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment.
A high degree of self-motivation, willingness and self-responsibility to continually improve and remain current with knowledge and skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills & computer literacy.
Exceptional attention to detail.
