About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Neonatologist to work in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which has a total of 41 cots, 17 level three (intensive care) cots, 12 level two (intermediate care) and 12 level one (low acuity). The NICU at Waikato Hospital looks after approximately 1000 inpatients annually including 160 babies born at or below 32 weeks gestation.

About the Team, Service and Location
Te Whatu Ora Waikato is one of the largest regions in New Zealand. We plan, fund and provide health and disability support services to a population of more than 400,000. We run five hospitals across the district, a tertiary hospital in Hamilton, a secondary hospital in Thames, and three rural hospitals in Te Kuiti, Taumarunui and Tokoroa. The NICU provides tertiary care to the entire Midland regions population, which includes Lakes, Bay of Plenty, Tairawhiti and Taranaki regions.
Waikato Hospital in Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary teaching hospitals. With 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres and advanced diagnostic facilities, it provides comprehensive care and is affiliated with the University of Auckland, University of Waikato and Wintec. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services and Mental Health and Addiction. Waikato Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including neonatology, trauma surgery, oncology and neurology.
