Dark Arts Limited – Clevedon, North Island

About the Role

Dark Arts Limited is looking for a part-time Release & DevOps Engineer to support our small development team and ensure stable, reliable deliveries. You will take responsibility for code reviews, merges, deployment checks, and gradually building proper CI / CD processes.

This role is fully remote and requires 1–3 hours per day , Monday to Friday. Work remotely, but must be New Zealand based.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reviewing and sense-checking code before QA
  • Managing merges (Git, Bitbucket, SVN), including resolving complex conflicts
  • Communicating clearly with developers and QA to resolve issues
  • Supporting deployments to Azure and AWS
  • Protecting uptime and release stability
  • Reducing manual operations through automation

What You’ll Bring

  • Clear, fluent and easily understandable English communication
  • Strong experience in DevOps, build / release engineering, and software delivery
  • Excellent merging skills and confidence handling broken merge scenarios
  • Solid understanding of C#, VB.NET, and preferably Java / JSP
  • SQL Server and PostgreSQL scripting
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence
  • Ability to review code and spot quality issues early
  • Comfortable working with existing systems and improving them step-by-step
  • Problem-Solving : handling complex manual merges and deployment challenges
  • Adaptability : We've built effective systems organically—we need someone who can work with what's there while improving it
