In this role you will manage large and complex data sets and develop data ingestion and data warehousing storage solutions.

You will provide recommendations and inform the use of technology helping to shape the future of data capability across the organisation.

As a trusted technical expert, designing scalable data ingestion and warehousing solutions, guiding technology choices, and mentoring others to grow their skills.

You'll play a key role in uplifting our team's technical capability and driving best practices in data storage, governance, and architecture.As a Senior Developer, you'll : Design, develop and maintain robust data warehousing solutions, including data mapping and modellingCreate and maintain clear, high quality solution design documentationChampion data governance and quality standardsLead process mapping and optimisation initiativesMentor and coach team members to build technical capabilityCollaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver aligned data solutionsSkills and Experience5+ years of advanced experience with relational databases and strong SQL Development skillsProactive in mentoring and uplifting technical capabilities of peersProven expertise in SSIS package development and troubleshootingHands-on experience with both on-premise and cloud-based data warehousing platforms (e.g. SQL Server, Azure, Snowflake, Informatica, BimlFlex)Familiarity with Azure DevOps source code repositoriesProven ability to build and optimise data pipelines, ETL, architectures, and data products aligned with business needsStrong data modelling skills, including Dimensional Modelling and Data Vaulting toolsA proactive mindset for identifying and implementing best practices, automation, and scalable solutionsExcellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into plain language for a variety of audiencesMust have legal right to live and work in New ZealandMust be able to undergo MBIE's internal Privileged Access vetting processAbout MBIEMBIE's goal is to create a resilient and high-performing economy that delivers real and ongoing quality of life for all New Zealanders.We do this by working with others to create an environment that supports businesses to be more productive and internationally competitive, enables all New Zealanders to participate in the economy through improved job opportunities and by working to ensure quality housing is more affordable.People are at the heart of our mahi, our way of working is guided by our values which shape our behaviours.Mahi Tahi – Better TogetherMaia– Bold and bravePae Kahurangi – Build our FuturePono Me Te Tika – Own ItOur aspirations are echoed in our Maori identity – Hikina Whakatutuki – which broadly means 'lifting to make successful'.
