Senior Medical Officer- Gastroenterologist, Waikato
We are looking for a Specialist Gastroenterologist to join our highly skilled, multidisciplinary team at Waikato Hospital; the largest gastroenterology service in the Central North Island, offering advanced procedures, specialist clinics, and opportunities for research and teaching.
About the Role
In this role, youll be an integral part of our departments daily operations, contributing to clinics, endoscopy, and ward duties, along with participating in the on-call roster.
Beyond the clinical work, theres a real opportunity to shape the futurethrough teaching, ongoing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Were particularly keen to hear from those with a subspecialty interest in inflammatory bowel disease, as we continue to respond to the growing needs of this community. Equally, expertise in general gastroenterology and hepatology would be highly valued.

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the ASMS SECA agreement. Additional benefits include KiwiSaver contributions (if eligible), shift allowances, professional development and wellness support.

About the Team / Service
Our team consists of 8 permanent Gastroenterologists, Specialists Nurses in Hepatology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease and a Nurse Endoscopist. We have two advanced trainees and one fellow as part of the national training scheme.
