We are a busy and fast-growing restaurant in the heart of Onemana. We are looking for 2 x experienced Cooks to join our busy team. You will be required to work as efficiently as possible, in a busy team environment. You must be a team player and must be able to work under pressure. You must be passionate about food and cooking.
1 x Chef De Partie (CDP).
Key duties include but not limited to;
- To organise an assigned section and ensure it runs efficiently and productively.
- Assist in menu planning and preparatory work and offer new ideas and be creative.
- Be familiar with the other kitchen sections, promoting flexibility and productivity.
- Ensure all food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards.
- Prepare and cook all food orders with a sense of urgency.
- Check all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations.
- Be familiar with and follow the Food Control Plan.
- Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times, in accordance with current health and hygiene regulations and statutory requirement.
- Monitor daily kitchen food and product requirements and advise the supervisor of these well in advance.
- Discussing food preparation issues with Head Chef, Managers, Kitchen and Waiting Staff
- Monitor food preparation and wastage costs control these by following efficient preparation methods and standard recipes. Preserve and freeze food when required.
- Inform Head / Sous Chef of any short falls in stock or ordering needed for the next day.
- May assist junior chefs in training.
- Ensure all maintenance problems are promptly reported to Head or Sous Chef.
- Any other reasonable request as required by your Head Chef or Management.
Requirements : Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role OR Level 4 Diploma in cookery or above essential.
Cooks : Core duties include but not limited to;
Examining foodstuffs to ensure qualityregulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipmentpreparing and cooking food.Manage prep time and minimise wastage.Maintain and monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.Follow recipes and instructions carefully.Seasoning food during cooking.Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishesStoring food in temperature-controlled facilitiesPreparing food to meet special dietary requirementsStocktake and ordering.May train other kitchen staff and apprentices.Assisting in menu planning and prepare seasonal menu.Be familiar with daily and ongoing menus, functions, specials etc.Ensure compliance with food safety standard.Ensure all statutory, as well as establishment, hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to. Check all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulations.Be familiar with and follow the Food Control Plan.Ensure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all times, in accordance with current health and hygiene regulations and statutory requirement.A successful candidate will need to be flexible to work different shifts. Hourly wage rate : $25 - $30 per hour depending on experience and skills.
Requirements :
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role OR Level 4 Diploma in cookery or above.Preference will be given to candidates who are already in New Zealand and has a relevant work experience. All suitable candidates should be able to pass a preemployment drug test and a Ministry of Justice / Police check when required.
